Yang Makes It Possible

"I work on a floor with pediatric heart transplant patients. The time between the first diagnosis and finding the right match can be a long wait. One boy I was taking care of came all the way from China. His mother found his doctor at another hospital on the Web. After multiple surgeries, his heart was still failing. When he was transferred to NewYork-Presbyterian, I began translating for him and his mother, as they had no relatives here and spoke no English. My help made it easier for him to receive the medications and transplant that he needed. That was four years ago. Now he's thriving in his studies at school. This is why I love working with children, they never lose hope. They never give up."
