Rosa Makes It Possible

"While reviewing a smear from a blood culture collected from a sick baby, I noticed there were bacteria in the blood. This is a very serious situation. Sometimes it can take up to 24 hours before we know what the bacteria are, but I knew the baby had to be treated right away with the correct antibiotic. Instead of waiting until the next day, I kept checking every few hours to see if the bacteria were growing. As soon as I saw growth, I performed a rapid test and was able to tell the baby's physician that the blood contained Salmonella. Everyone was amazed at how quickly we were able to give them the result. The baby was treated with the right antibiotic and we saved her life."
