"There was a six-year-old girl on our unit who had sustained extensive burns to over 70% of her body in a tragic house fire. We weren't sure she would make it. Over the four months that she stayed with us, I became close to her family. They kept her room full of princess stuff, and she even wore a little tiara. I used to sit with her just to talk or to read her stories. She was such an amazing kid. Someone so small, with so much courage, became an inspiration to us all. Now that she's returned to school, she comes back to visit the unit all dressed in pink. She's living proof there's a light at the end of the tunnel."
