"In the Adolescent Psychiatric unit at Westchester, we deal only with teens in acute crises. We see everything - kids with bipolar disorder, depression, abuse issues, psychoses - but it's a hopeful place. Kids come in early enough that you can put them back on track and send them back out into the world with a second chance. No one person turns the corner for a child in crisis. It's always a team effort. When I arrived here, I served as the preceptor for seven new nurses. In 2008, all but two of the nurses from that first group are still here. Each person is one thread in a big and colorful tapestry."
