"An oncologist came to me with a baby's bone marrow aspirate in his hand and said, 'I need to treat this patient today.' It didn't matter that it was late Friday night or the start of a long weekend. As a mother myself, there was no question in my mind what needed to be done: It was someone's loved one. The amazing thing was that the oncologist and the pathologist sat with me through the whole process - the staining, the collection, the analysis - so we could immediately save the child. The three of us sat side-by-side to make it possible that very night."
